ICONOPLASM CARETAKER TERMS

These terms apply when you accept an invitation to become the caretaker of an Iconoplasm gene.

1. What a caretaker can do

While your caretaker role is active, you may write manifestations for the assigned gene, save immutable versions, choose an eligible version as canonical, restore an eligible version, and withdraw manifestation records you wrote. You cannot edit or withdraw a system manifestation or another person's manifestation.

2. Your content and the permission Iconoplasm needs

You keep any copyright you hold in manifestation prose you write. You grant Brinedew a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, reproduce, display, transmit, format, and technically adapt that prose only as needed to operate, secure, back up, moderate, and provide Iconoplasm. This includes public gene pages and APIs, version and attribution displays, search and discovery, and gene-character generation that is explicitly bound to an eligible manifestation version. It does not permit selling your prose as standalone content or using it in unrelated advertising.

The licence continues for a manifestation you choose to retain after leaving the caretaker role. For a withdrawn manifestation, it continues only as needed to preserve the private version record, security and audit evidence, backups, legal obligations, and the stated retention and deletion process.

3. What you promise

Submit only prose you have the right to provide. Do not submit unlawful material, private or confidential information, personal data about someone else, malicious code, harassment, or content intended to mislead readers about the gene. Manifestations are creative character descriptions, not medical advice or scientific evidence.

4. Versions and canonical selection

Every save creates a new immutable version. Older versions remain identifiable and may be selected again while eligible. Canonical selection is explicit; the system does not silently replace it with the newest save. Concurrent changes may require you to review the current version and submit again.

5. Attribution

Iconoplasm may display your current public credit label with manifestations you wrote. Provider usernames and account identifiers are not authorship. If your account is erased, retained history uses an anonymous stable label rather than exposing the former provider identity.

6. Leaving, withdrawing, and deletion

When you stop being caretaker, you choose either to retain your manifestation in the gene history or withdraw it and fall back to another eligible version. The choice shown when accepting an invitation is a default; the final consequence is shown and confirmed again when you leave.

The interface may call withdrawal "Delete my manifestation." Withdrawal immediately makes the lineage ineligible for canonical use and withdraws every version in that lineage. It does not rewrite the immutable record or immediately erase encrypted history. Hard purge becomes eligible 30 days after withdrawal, unless a legal hold requires preservation. Hard purge destroys the decryption key before object deletion and keeps only bounded tombstone and audit metadata. The one-time encrypted migration backup contains only the original system material moved during cutover, never manifestations users write afterward. It is deleted 30 days after verified retirement of the old plaintext, unless an active legal hold requires longer preservation; deletion resumes after the final hold is released.

7. Moderation and availability

Brinedew may suspend a caretaker role or quarantine, withdraw, or purge content to protect people, scientific integrity, security, or the service. Moderation does not silently transfer authorship or rewrite an old version. Iconoplasm may be changed or discontinued and cannot promise uninterrupted availability.
